Though it maybe slight on a map, the Tomorrow River is the center of Nelsonville, carrying momentum across Central Wisconsin and through our town.\u003cbr\u003e\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003eThe Tomorrow Seasonal Project is designed to work the same way. Though it may just be one small project, we hope it carries momentum for developing farmers across generations. One major hurdle for coffee farmers transitioning to specialty coffee farming is finding a buyer for their new coffee quality.\u003cbr\u003e\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003eA lot of these coffees end up purchased at lower prices destined to be included in a blend. The Tomorrow Seasonal Project is designed to target standout coffees from farmers in transition and feature them as single origin releases. When we realized most of these coffees came from certified organic farms, we decided to make the project a permanently certified organic offering. \u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003eRio Blanco Coffee Growers Association represents certified organic growers in the San Ignacio, Peru community of Namballe. These are smallholder farmers with an average of\u003cbr\u003e1-2 hectares in production. These producers operate within the buffer zone of the Tabaconas Namballe National Sanctuary, The area encompassing three river basins and protects a unique Amazonian ecosystem called the páramo including two endangered species: the spectacled bear and the highland tapir. It’s a major coffee producing region of Peru and produces a wide range of delicious coffees. La Zunga is a town nestled along the Tabaconas Namballe National Sanctuary. This area protects a rare ecosystem in Peru called the páramo which protects rare biodiversity. It is vital as a part of the water system, a souce for drinking water in the dry populated areas nearby. Parts of the páramo also feed into the amazon basin.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp dir=\"ltr\"\u003ePersy Pusma has been producing coffee here for more than a decade. Through his passion for coffee and sustainable views of coffee production, his goal is national and international recognition for high quality coffee. His 2.5 hectare farm is planted in several coffee varieties, native shade trees, and subsistence crops like yucca and banana. His farm is named after a native tree known as La Nona, a member of the coffee family that is used traditionally in medicine.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp dir=\"ltr\"\u003eThe coffee is processed by Persy on site, where it is fully washed after a 29 hour wet fermentation. Drying takes place carefully in the sun over the course of 23 days. The parchment is delivered by mule to be picked up at the nearest road. It’s a long process but we are grateful for the end result.
